Fantastic Four
The latest Juno Race car from the factory in Leyland made its track debut at a cold and windy Donington Park. The Juno Formula 4 is based upon the innovative Formula Ford chassis.
Looking stunning, the car features ajustable front and rear wings, full flat floor with carbon fibre diffuser and new wheel hubs, it was real head turner as it surged around the Derbyshire track. Powered by the Ford Duratec engine this is the beginning of a test programme to get a front running and competitive car for Formula 4 in 2012.
Juno engineers were supported by Edington Racing and their driver Lee Cunningham, who was behind the wheel for the first laps of the new car around the damp slippery track, which dried through the day allowing for a run on the slick racing tyres in the aftrenoon.
The car completed many trouble free laps and responded well to set up change as the team completed and evaluated a test programme. Lee reported the car had very good balance and great potential, reflected in some excellent lap times, lapping the national circuit some 1.4 seconds faster than his familiar Formula 4 chassis in a back to back direct comparison.
Encouraged by this the Juno team will continue to develop the car, and already have upgrades planned. We look forward to conducting a further test programme and build upon the initial successful run.
Juno Racing Cars would like to thank Edington Racing for their hospitality, warm tea and mince pies! And also to Lee Cunningham for his performance and excellent feedback.
More information on this exciting new project for Juno will be released very soon.
